At the Dolmabahçe Palace, you will witness the splendor and grand life of the Ottoman Sultans during the last days of the Ottoman Empire. Built in 1856 on the orders of Sultan Abdulmecid, the Dolmabahce Palace is magnificent and stately with its 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 Turkish baths, and 68 bathrooms. Reflecting the later years of the Ottomans, the Dolmabahçe Palace is one of the first places to be seen in Istanbul with unique decorations, architectural details, unrivaled hand-woven carpets and rugs, chandeliers with grand workmanship, Bohemian and Baccarat crystals, an Administrative Section (Selamlık), several selected items used in the Palace, hamams (Turkish baths), Living Quarters (Harem section), and the room in which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk passed away.
